Welcome to the Belleville, Wisconsin home page on Green County Spotlight. The Village of Belleville is a growing southern Wisconsin community with 1,908 people (as of the Year 2000 Census). Belleville is a bedroom community to Madison Wisconsin that sits on the border of Green County and Dane County with most of the village situated inside Dane County. Interesting Facts About Belleville

Belleville is known as the UFO Capitol of the World, it is host of the annual UFO Day Festival which is held the annually on the last Saturday each October. Folks in Belleville truly believe their village was visited by aliens after strange lights were reported in the sky near the village by the local sheriff and dozens of  residents between January and April in 1987.  The UFO Day Festival brings visitors from every point in the universe, it truly is an Out-of-this-World event!

Belleville has a variety of green space and  parks, as well as the picturesque Lake Belle View which runs into the Sugar River. The community is currently renovating  Lake Belle View to help protect it delicate waterfowl and improve the lakes ecosystem.  The village is a popular point-of-entry for bicycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling with the Badger State Bike Trail, offering a convenient stepping off point for adventures into both Dane and Green County.
