Welcome to the Browntown, Wisconsin home page on Green County Spotlight.  Founded in 1880 by William“Grizzly” Brown, Browntown Wisconsin located in rolling hills of southwestern Green County, WI.   The village of Browntown has a total area of 1.0 square miles with a population of 252 according to the United States Census of 2000.  The small community offers many recreational opportunities perfect for the entire family.

    Browntown-Cadiz Springs State Recreation Area is just the ticket. Enjoy nature trails and explore the 600-acre wildlife area, swim and fish on 95 acres of lakes.

Browntown's Recreational Fun

Includes the Cheese Country Recreation Trail, the Pecatonica River, the Browntown History Museum, Community Park and the Browntown-Cadiz Springs State Recreation Area. The State Recreational Area is located just west of Monroe, off State Highway 11, east of Browntown, it offers visitors a 600-acre wildlife area, two beautiful lakes, Lake Beckman  Lake Zander, along with hiking trails, swimming beach and picnic areas.
Browntown host the annual Browntown Summerfest at Browntown's Community Park which is held the second weekend in June annually. So come swim and fish on 95 acres of lakes, spend the day on the hiking trails, do some bird watching, take a few photos, bring a picnic and have some great family fun.
