Monroe Arts Center Frehner Gallery (MAC) presents Earth’s Canvas, a group exhibit featuring Wisconsin gourd artists Barbara Rothwell, Fitchburg; Terri Schmit, Blue Mounds; and Jeanne Stietz, Gratiot, who each use the skin of gourds as canvases and building materials to create sculptures and utilitarian vessels. Elsie Berget of Blanchardville, is a gouache painter that draws her inspiration from nature using flowers, birds, and trees that are painted with scientific detail and collaged into decorative designs.

The gallery exhibit titled Earth’s Canvas, which showcases gouache paintings by Elsie Berget and gourd work by Barbara Rothwell, Terri Schmit, and Jeanne Stietz, will be on display at the MAC Frehner Gallery from January 6 through February 17. An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for Friday, January 6 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
