Monroe Arts Center
Bringing the Arts to Green County Wisconsin
"The
mission of the Monroe Arts Center is threefold: to nurture an
appreciation for the arts, to aid individual creative development, and
to ensure the preservation and integrity of our historic facility."
The Monroe Arts Center is located in the old First Methodist Church of Monroe.
Built in 1869 by Milwaukee Architect E. Townsend Mix.
This Gothic Revival-style church along with the parsonage built in the Queen Anne-style, currently serves as the cultural arts center for Monroe, Green County and the surrounding area. Inside you will find The Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall, named to honor Margaret Gunderson Stiles, the leading force behind the fundraising efforts that allowed the purchase these historic buildings.
