Welcome to the Community of New Glarus, Wisconsin

"America's Little Switzerland" and Home of the Glarner Knights

Welcome to the New Glarus, Wisconsin home page on Green County Spotlight. The Village of New Glarus is a small community of 2,111 people (as of the Year 2000 Census) but don't let it's size fool you. There's a lot to see and do on your next visit to the New Glarus area.

New Glarus is home to many festivals and other community events throughout the year including Heidi Festival, the Wilhelm Tell Festival, Taste of New Glarus, Volkfest and Oktoberfest to name a few. The village, settled by Swiss immigrants early in Wisconsin's history, proudly exhibits its heritage in a variety of ways, from the Swiss architectural theme in the downtown area to traditional festivals and, of course, there is plenty of brown-eyed, brown Swiss cows, excellent cheese, tasty beer, from the New Glarus Brewing Company and many other traditional culinary delights.
